A recent job

A worn-out Gainsborough trilock, knob and plate both past it, came out and a new lock went in. We keyed the new lock to the customer’s existing key, so they kept using the key they already had. No new keys to cut, nothing to hand out.

Getting it right on the door

A lock only works if it lines up with the strike on the frame. Doors drop, frames move, and a lock that was fine ten years ago can end up half a millimetre out and useless. Part of fitting or repairing a lock is checking the door and frame and adjusting them, and we do that as standard.

One key for every door

When we fit or repair locks we can rekey them so one key opens the lot. Fewer keys, less to lose.

Common questions

My key is getting harder to turn. Should I wait until it stops?

No. A stiff lock is a lock that’s about to fail, usually at night with you on the wrong side of the door. A service or a new cylinder now is the cheaper fix.

Repair or replace?

If the lock is decent quality and just worn, we repair or rekey it. If it’s damaged, cheap, or the kind a screwdriver could open, we replace it and tell you why.

Can you fit a deadbolt to a door that doesn’t have one?

Yes. We cut the door and frame for a new deadbolt or deadlock and fit it so it lines up and locks smoothly.

Do you fix sliding door and screen door locks?

Yes. Sliding door locks and security screen locks are some of the most common repairs we do, especially on homes near the coast.

Will the new lock take my existing key?

Often, yes. If the new lock uses the same key type, we can key it to match, so you don’t end up with a keyring full of extras.
